As Paul McCartney prepares his return to the Twin Cities, WDGY is celebrating the 60th anniversary of Beatlemania landing at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington.
The Aug. 21 performance would wind up being the first and only concert that the legendary quartet played in the state. WDGY will celebrate the event with a free show at the Mall of America that pays tribute not only to the original concert, but the press conference that preceded it.
On Aug. 17, at the former site of the Met Stadium, the Beatles tribute band A Hard Day’s Night will perform from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Mall of America’s Huntington Bank Rotunda.
“The Beatles 1965 concert and press conference are etched in Twin Cities history,” Brent Borgen, WDGY Radio President, says in an announcement for the event. “We’re thrilled to mark the anniversary of this incredible moment by bringing Beatlemania back to the very spot where it all happened.”…
