After calling for community support, Stanley’s Northeast Bar Room won’t be forced to close

At the beginning of the year, Stanley’s Northeast Bar Room announced that it was at risk of closing due to a road construction proposal, but the Minneapolis business now says it’s been spared as a result of an outpouring of support from the community.

In February, Stanley’s sounded an alarm, warning regulars that the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) was considering acquiring its building through eminent domain as part of a University Avenue construction project. On Thursday, the bar shared that it’s not going anywhere.

MnDOT recently told Stanley’s that it’s “no longer part of the proposed acquisition,” thanks to “community support,” a spokesperson for the bar and restaurant told Bring Me The News via email…
