Another name has been added to the list in Minnesota’s largest-ever fraud case involving a nonprofit organization. This time, it’s Hussein Mohamed Farah, the executive director of St. Paul’s New Vision Foundation, who has been charged with wire fraud in connection with the Feeding Our Future scandal, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The information alleges that Farah’s nonprofit took in about $2.7 million fraudulently by fabricating meal count sheets and attendance rosters to claim reimbursements for meals that were never actually served to children.
Operating under the umbrella of Feeding Our Future, New Vision Foundation was one of the sites purportedly distributing food to those in need. As detailed by Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson, Farah is accused of submitting phony documents between February 2021 and January 2022 to back up the claims made by New Vision. Despite running a foundation that was meant to guide youth towards a brighter future, Farah and his organization instead led an initiative that allegedly lined their pockets with government funds intended for children in need, leaving the kids’ plates empty as a result…
