Body recovered from Wyoming lake believed to be Minnesota kayaker missing for over a year

Authorities believe a search and recovery team has found the body of a Minnesota man who went missing while kayaking in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park.

Wesley Dopkins, 43, of St. Paul, had been last seen on June 15, 2024 during a mid-afternoon paddle on Jackson Lake, traveling from Elk Island towards Waterfall Canyon, according to the National Park Service.

As a search began, rescuers found Dopkins’ foldable Oru kayak, paddle and dry bag floating off Moose Island on Jackson Lake, near Leeks Marina. Officials said he was not wearing a life jacket when he and a friend encountered rough waters and high winds and got separated…
