Minneapolis turns Nicollet Mall into one long dining table for 2,000 people to eat

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis turned Nicollet Mall into one long dining table Thursday night as more than 2,000 people came together for the city’s first-ever Dinner du Nord, a massive outdoor meal designed to celebrate food, community, and connection.

Stretching across seven blocks downtown, dinner tables lined the streets while 40 local restaurants and food trucks offered menus showcasing everything from pizza and tacos to fish and chips and whole roasted branzino. Guests signed up in advance and selected their restaurant of choice, with prix fixe menus starting at $18 and ranging up to more than $250.

“There were so many options and price points that people could do,” one diner said. “I think that that’s great for the city, and great to be able to bring people down.”…
