Bloomington taxpayers are facing a tax levy increase of more than 9% in 2026, based upon the city’s preliminary budget and property tax levy.
At 9.44%, the increase is down from an earlier tax levy forecast which called for a 17.92% increase, according to Kari Carlson, the city’s deputy finance director.
Carlson highlighted reductions the city’s staff had made to reduce the proposed levy prior to the Bloomington City Council approving the preliminary levy and budget last month.
