A couple of Twin Cities apartment buildings have been impacted by the collapse of Sonder, a nationwide hotel chain offering short- and long-term rentals at those properties.
Sonder suddenly closed all of its locations on Monday as a result of a licensing dispute with Marriott International. That includes the residential tower of North Loop Green in Minneapolis, where Sonder has 96 short-term rental units, and The Fitz apartments in downtown St. Paul.
Marriott announced Sunday that it terminated a year-old licensing agreement with Sonder “due to Sonder’s default” and removed Sonder properties from its booking systems.
Sonder said it has “faced severe financial constraints” as it worked to integrate its systems and booking platforms with Marriott.
