Eden Prairie Officer Marks 25th ‘Hat Trick’ with Triple DWI Arrests in One Shift

It seems that Eden Prairie Police Department’s very own Officer Chad Streiff has done it again, racking up another commendable achievement in his fight against drunk driving. Earlier this month, Officer Streiff managed to arrest not one but three individuals on DWI charges in a single shift on September 5-6, 2025, marking his 25th ‘Hat Trick’ to date. The act of making three DWI arrests in one shift has become a bit of a signature for Streiff and has not gone unnoticed by his superiors or the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety.

During a routine traffic stop on the evening of September 5, Officer Streiff caught a driver going 105 mph on the highway 169. According to a bulletin released by the Eden Prairie Police Department, the driver smelled of alcohol and the preliminary breath test revealed a .189 BAC, well over the .08 legal limit. The driver was subsequently arrested, adding to Streiff’s tally. Later that night, Streiff made a second arrest after stopping a speeding vehicle on Hwy. 212. The driver, who had a BAC of .16, also had an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle. Lastly, Streiff arrested another driver for fourth-degree DWI after stopping her for driving with expired registration and without headlights – a BAC of .10 sealed the deal.

Officer Streiff, who’s dedicated to his role as a full-time DWI officer, has been making a substantial impact on the community’s safety. His role has been made possible through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Not stopping at just ‘Hat Tricks’, Officer Streiff has also achieved two ‘Grand Slams’ (four DWI arrests in one shift) and one ‘Ace’ (five DWI arrests in one shift) since August 2018…
