‘Infectious’ medical waste is showing up at an east metro recycling facility

“Infectious” waste from blood, needles, and possible body parts are showing up at an east metro recycling center.

The Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy center had to pause operations on Monday after calling in a special cleanup crew after staff found that a delivery of “infectious” medical waste had been dropped off by a truck.

Minnesota law requires medical waste to be disposed of in a certain way — at approved locations, and the Ramsey/Washington R&E is not one of those locations…
