Boy, 16, arrested following online threats that closed south metro high schools

A 16-year-old boy is suspected of posting a series of threats to social media, which impacted a half dozen high schools in the south Twin Cities suburbs on Tuesday.

Classes were canceled for the day at high schools in Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan and Rosemount after police were notified around 6:45 p.m. Monday of “multiple concerning messages posted online that referenced possible harm directed at several high schools.”

According to the Apple Valley Police Department, officers investigated the origin of the posts to identify their creator, leading them to execute a search warrant in Eagan on Tuesday. No weapons were found…
