A lion at Como Park Zoo is now in hospice care after he was diagnosed with an untreatable tumor.

The zoo recently announced that Mumford the lion had been diagnosed with an untreatable tumor within his nasal sinuses. The diagnosis came after Mumford was recently observed suffering repeated nosebleeds.

The team at the zoo has determined that Mumford’s next steps should focus on his quality of life rather than “treatments that could cause more harm than good,” according to the announcement.
