Comedy club hosting benefit after canceling on comic who joked about Renee Good’s death

Camp Bar’s Laugh Camp Comedy Club has announced a Feb. 10 benefit show featuring local comics aimed at covering losses for staff after the club canceled six sold-out shows with comedian Ben Bankas in January.

Owner Bill Collins canceled the shows after Bankas posted videos joking about the death of Renee Good, the Minneapolis woman who was shot and killed in her car by ICE agents while observing an operation.

At the time, he said protests were planned, and the situation presented too many safety concerns for the small bar and comedy club in St. Paul.

In the video, Bankas said, “Her last name was Good. That’s what I said after they shot her in the face.”…
