Oppidan’s plan to build five data centers in Apple Valley is rejected

Apple Valley officials recently finalized their rejection of Oppidan Investment Co.’s plan to build a massive data center campus within the city.

Excelsior-based Oppidan introduced plans over a year ago to build five large-scale data centers at the southwest corner of County Road 42 and Pilot Knob Road. The 134-acre swath of land, used for sand and gravel mining, is owned by Rockport LLC.

The Apple Valley City Council’s vote Thursday formalized its denial of the proposal, which failed its first major hurdle in January, when the council rejected the 2040 Comprehensive Plan amendment needed to pave the way for the project.
