Heartbreaking Update For Como Park Zoo & Conservatory Fans About Beloved Animal
Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, located at 1225 Estabrook Dr in St. Paul, sent a note out to fans in December with an update about Mumford, their beloved male African lion. It was noticed by quite a few visitors that Mumford was experiencing some nosebleeds.
Many of you have noticed or asked about Mumford’s recent nosebleeds, and we want to share an update from the heart about our brave and beloved male lion. Earlier this year, Mumford was diagnosed with an untreatable tumor within his nasal sinuses. While the condition is serious, there’s no clear timeline and he’s still having good days and spending time with Maji. After thoughtful discussions with our veterinary team and consulting specialists, we’ve made the compassionate decision to focus on his comfort and quality of life rather than treatments that could cause more harm than good.
