HART cuts three bus routes, leaving some South Hillsborough County riders worried about getting around

RUSKIN, Fla. — Starting Sunday, the Hillsborough Area Transit Authority (HART) will discontinue three bus routes as part of a broader service overhaul — a move that has some riders worried they’ll be left without reliable transportation.

The routes being eliminated are the 24LX, 25LX and HARTFlex South County. The services connect South Tampa to Fish Hawk and Brandon, while HARTFlex South County serves riders in Ruskin, Sun City Center and Wimauma through a reservation-based transit system.

HART says the routes were among its least-used services, averaging fewer than 90 riders per day. The transit system says HartFLEX South County averaged about one customer per trip for 30 daily rides.
