Tampa man found guilty of stomping 73-year-old to death in 7-Eleven parking lot

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Hillsborough County jury found a Tampa man guilty as charged in the violent death of a 73-year-old man that happened nearly four years ago in 2022, the State Attorney’s Office said.

Taron Criner, 42, faced a first-degree murder charge for the death of the victim, who was only identified by authorities as an “elderly black man.”

In a press release from June 24, 2022, the day the crime occurred, the Tampa Police Department said officers arrived at the 7-Eleven on Busch Boulevard at around 1:20 a.m. regarding some kind of altercation in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim unconscious in the parking lot with severe injuries to his head and face. First responders were unable to find a pulse, and the man was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital…
