ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Wednesday it has arrested two men and charged them with placing mothballs on St. Pete Beach earlier this year.
The owner of the Plaza Beach Hotel and the owner of Chris’s Beachside Bar in that hotel are accused of placing 1,500 mothballs on the beach to prevent black skimmer shorebirds from nesting.
