Florida Roofing Company Drops One of Its 250 Lawsuits Against Its Customers

A Florida roofing company that has sued over 250 of its customers has dropped one of those lawsuits. For St. Petersburg homeowner Dawn Donley, the court battle is now over—but what does that mean for the remaining cases?

WFLA first reported the development on Aug. 18 as part of its ongoing coverage of Florida Roof Specialists, a Jacksonville-based roofing company. The abandoned lawsuit is only one piece of a much larger legal dispute surrounding the company’s billing practices and use of construction liens.

Florida Roof Specialists is also being sued by the Florida Attorney General’s Office. According to a March 6 report from News4JAX, state officials allege the company misled some homeowners into believing insurance would cover their roofing work except for their deductible, only for those customers to later receive additional bills…
