High Bacteria Levels Trigger Water Quality Advisory At Ruskin’s Bahia Beach

RUSKIN, Fla. — Health officials have issued a water quality advisory for Bahia Beach in Ruskin after routine testing revealed elevated levels of bacteria in the water.

The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County announced the advisory for the beach, located at 2513 W. Shell Point Road, following water tests completed on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

According to the department, water samples failed to meet state recreational standards due to high levels of Enterococcus bacteria. As a result, health officials are urging the public to avoid swimming and other water-related activities at Bahia Beach because of an increased risk of illness…
