50s Now Extend Deep Into the Tampa Bay Region
The updated model shows 54 to 58 degrees across a significant stretch of the Tampa Bay area, with readings of 54 degrees appearing directly over communities east of downtown Tampa. This represents a notable deepening of the cold pocket compared to earlier model runs.
Communities including Brandon, Riverview, and Plant City all fall within this colder zone, with the cold air extending well beyond just the immediate Tampa metro area and pushing into surrounding suburban communities throughout the region for Sunday morning.
Central Florida Sees Some of the Coldest Readings
The coldest single reading on the map appears at 54 degrees in the interior of the peninsula, with nearby readings of 56 degrees and 61 degrees surrounding this core cold pocket. These temperatures reflect an unusually deep push of cool air for such an early-season front.
Forecasters note that morning temperatures in the 50s place some towns in the 15 to 20 degree below normal range, a departure they describe as very impressive for a front arriving this early in the season across Central Florida.
Panhandle and Southwest Florida Stay Comparatively Milder
