The Tampa Bay Rays’ plan to build a new stadium on Hillsborough College’s Dale Mabry campus has drawn mixed reactions from the people who teach and study there, ranging from excitement to skepticism to indifference.
Announced earlier this year, the project would pair the campus with the ballpark, with students attending class while the public enjoys games and events next door. The Rays’ website calls it a “Community Partnership.”
“The connection of the college campus to the ballpark, enriched by our Workforce Development Program, will elevate student learning opportunities, career growth, and alignment with Hillsborough College’s mission to ‘inspire students to contribute to the local community and global society,’” the website states…
