“Old School Florida” Restaurant Reportedly Closes, Files For Bankruptcy Due To A $540,000 Debt

Florida attracts plenty of new restaurants every year. And many of them look and function in the same way because that is arguably what some customers expect today.

However, one could argue that there is one subset of Floridians who yearn for “old school” or “old Florida” restaurants where you can relax, come as you are, and enjoy non-fancy, but delicious comfort foods in a comfortable environment.

And Florida has no shortage of these kinds of establishments. Examples are Cap’s Place, La Cantina’s Steakhouse, and The Catfish Place.

But, Florida recently lost one beloved restaurant in this genre, and it was reportedly possibly due to financial and personal issues.

About Pesky Pelican Brew Pub: The Pub’s website describes it as “a family-friendly, ‘old school Florida‘ restaurant featuring St. Louis-style food.” It was also a brewery. The owner, Dan Pemberton, ran the restaurant with his daughter, Danielle. It served bar fares such as burgers, wings, and sandwiches. But it received compliments for its thin crust pizza with provel cheese and toasted ravioli.
