The Florida City That Is The “Worst” For Bed Bugs Is Not The City With The Most Visitors

According to The United States Environmental Protection Agency, bed bugs are a “public health pest” because they can transmit diseases and cause physical, mental, and economic consequences. Some people reportedly have severe allergies to them.

According to 1st Response Pest Management, bed bugs can be very difficult to eradicate because they multiply very quickly, and it’s very difficult to get rid of every single bug at every stage in its life cycle. Plus, it is easy for visitors to transmit bed bugs in purses or luggage.

Unfortunately, Florida is reportedly not immune to bed bugs as a recent study has found that 3 Florida cities ranked in the top 50 for the worst places for the pests. And, interestingly enough, Florida’s top city is not its top tourist destination.

About The Study: The pest control company Orkin analyzed data to determine which cities it most treated (residential and commercial) for bed bugs between December 1, 2021 – November 30, 2022.

How Florida Fared: No Florida cities topped the list. That honor went to Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia. However, three Florida cities ranked in the top 50. They were:
