2 seriously hurt after car crashes into Publix semi-truck on I-275

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Two people were seriously injured after their car crashed into a semi-truck on I-275/I-375 Sunday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to troopers, a Toyota Yaris was heading north on the I-375 entrance ramp when wet road conditions caused the driver, an 18-year-old man, to lose control.

The Yaris ended up spinning before crashing with Publix semi-truck. Photos of the crash showed the back of the car severely mangled by the impact.

Troopers said the driver and his passenger, a 28-year-old man, were seriously injured. Both were said to be from St. Petersburg.

The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt in the incident.
