Habitat for Humanity closes thrift stores

January 31, 2024 – Mike Sutton, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties, announced Wednesday that the organization will permanently close its ReStore locations in Clearwater and New Port Richey March 30. The decision came after extensive discussions with Habitat’s board of directors and a nonprofit sustainability consultant. The organization built a record 80 homes in 2023, and Sutton said the closures would allow the affiliate to focus on its homeownership program. Liquidation sales begin Thursday at both stores.
