A SCHOOL has been fighting to keep its privacy screen after an anonymous neighbor complained to the county.
In November, Plato Academy’s Tampa campus was told they needed to remove their privacy fence, despite major safety concerns from parents.
“It is honestly quite terrifying for me,” Principal Heather Jenkins told the cable channel, Bay 9 News.
“I’m not just a principal – I’m also a mother. My daughter’s in eighth grade here. I don’t know if people think about what it’s like to be the principal of a school – 400 kids, 45 teachers.
“And think about it….it’s on me to keep them safe day in and day out.”
According to the principal, the school was able to purchase a blue screen using federal grant money. This move was made, following the school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas in 2022.
“It has meant a great deal,” Jenkins explained.
