‘It stinks’: St. Pete woman claims apartment complex ignoring mold, collapsing ceiling

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Peterburg mother says she’s stuck in a moldy apartment with such a severe leak that the ceiling started collapsing.

Jameka Wilson reached out to 8 On Your Side for help after she says her complaints to the apartment complex weren’t being addressed.

Wilson said her toilet from the bathroom upstairs is overflowing and seeping into her kitchen.

From the moment Wilson steps inside the kitchen of her apartment, she said she’s greeted with the stench of mold and a gaping hole from the bathroom above.

“You can smell the mold,” said Wilson. “It stinks.”

She’s called the Fountain Court Apartments home for the last three and a half years, but six months ago, her situation took a devastating turn.

“They never fixed the upstairs toilet either,” said Wilson. “So, it’s literally leaking into the kitchen and into my kids room.”

Wilson has four kids, but conditions were getting worse, so she moved in with her family.
