ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — More restaurants and shopping are making their way to St. Pete.
Construction crews are just about to get to work on the Sundial Retail and Dining Center.
First, there will be a complete overhaul of the plaza’s courtyard. Plans call for green space and a bar.
This means crews are taking down the iconic sundial and the six life-size dolphins currently in the center of the plaza. While many people in the community are sad to see them go, they said they are excited about what will replace the Sundial staple.
Jackie Zumba said she’s owned a business in the shopping complex for years. She said business sales were already good but she thinks the renovations will make her numbers even better.
“I think they’re going to explode. It’s going to be awesome,” Zumba said. “I think people are going to just love to come out and hang out in the courtyard in the new green space and all the amazing new restaurants coming and new retail. I think it’ll be really good for us.”
