SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – An alert about a stolen car soon led Sarasota police to uncover a drug trove. The first officer flagged the license plate by chance–an automatic plate reader let them know the car had been stolen out of Manatee County, so the officer called for backup. Multiple officers arrived at the Surestay hotel on Tamiami, taking up positions around the parking lot, waiting for whomever would come out to claim the contraband car.
