You Can Catch A Free Horse Show in Pinellas Park This Weekend

This Sunday, February 11th, A&A Equestrian owned by Alisha McGinnis will be hosting a horse show at Helen Howarth Park. The show is free to watch, starts at 9a.m,, and usually ends when all 65 classes have been completed. So, there would be plenty of time to set up a folding chair at the main arena for a while and still make it to your Super Bowl party.

At this show, equestrians of all ages will compete in-hand and in the saddle in both western and English disciplines, showing off their horse’s physique and training, as well as their own skill. In the middle of the show, there will even be two bareback riding classes, meaning no saddles will be allowed while riders complete requests made by the show judge without falling off. For a complete list of classes, you can check out the show bill here.

Although it may not seem like it from the outside, Pinellas Park is home to around 700 horses, as the city reported in 2018. Anyone who has not seen it before might not believe it, but the horse-crossing signs, local barns, tack and feed shops, and equestrians casually riding down the street do not lie. This little-known horse community is oriented largely around Helen Howarth Park, which is a 60-acre space shared by equestrians and non-equestrians alike.
