Coast Guard suspends search for missing boater off Anna Maria Island

TAMPA (WFLA) — The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing person in the waters around 35 miles off Anna Maria Island.

The boater disappeared in the water after a 28-foot boat capsized and sank off the island’s coast.

The Coast Guard said it rescued two people who were brought to emergency service crews for care.

Saturday morning, the USCG said it was suspending the search pending new information.

The search is ongoing with surface and air crews. Anyone with information is asked to call Sector St. Pete at 727-322-4180.
