‘He’s shot’: 11-year-old Tampa boy shot while standing on porch, TPD says

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police are searching for the person who shot an 11-year-old boy standing on his front porch on Sunday.

The boy was shot at the C. Blythe Andrews Apartments, located at 2201 E. Osbourne Ave., at 10:17 p.m., according to the Tampa Police Department.

He was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The boy’s mother, who asked not to be identified, said she was watching the Super Bowl on Sunday when she heard gunshots on her front porch.

“I see my son through the front door, he was bleeding,” the mother said. “It didn’t really occur to me or even him that he was shot, until I see one hole and the other hole and I’m like, ‘that’s a bullet wound, he’s shot.’”

The mother said the bullet went through her son’s shoulder and out of his back.

“We don’t know who did this,” she said. “I don’t know if my son was targeted.”

The boy may need surgery to repair his joints, the mother said. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
