Restaurant billed as ‘upscale neighborhood pub’ to open in downtown Sarasota in May

Downtown Sarasota, home to many of the region’s best restaurants, will soon welcome a new dining and drinking destination. Unlike the vast majority of nearby restaurants, though, this one will occupy a second-floor space. In fact, the spot on bustling lower Main Street has been home to numerous restaurants in recent years.

However, the owners of Fat Rabbit are optimistic that what they describe as an “upscale neighborhood pub” will prove as popular in downtown Sarasota as their original Fat Rabbit restaurant and bar that opened about seven years ago in Tampa. Located at 1359 Main St., Fat Rabbit is on top of OfKors Bakery and Main Street Creamery, with a sign hanging above the sidewalk between the two businesses, where guests can enter via stairs or elevator.
