Tiny Lessor Known South Pasadena, FL Called A “Retirement Hotspot” With Low Crime And Cheap Property

Florida has plenty of well-known communities popular with retirees such as The Villages, Sun City Center, Del Tura, and Lakewood Ranch. These communities are often mentioned in lists that rate the “best” retirement destinations in Florida.

However, one community that is often mentioned less often is South Pasadena, but it just got a shout-out in a national publication. This article will examine why South Pasadena was mentioned and what it has to offer to retirees.

What The Study Measured: In June of 2024, The Daily Mail published an article using data from Realtor.com and Go Banking Rates to identify cities that it said were retirement hotspots with low crime and inexpensive costs of living.

Florida’s Showing: Florida had three cities on the list – Sun City Center (somewhat close to Tampa), The Villages (somewhat close to Ocala,) and South Pasadena (somewhat close to St. Petersburg.)

What South Pasadena Has To Offer To Retirees: The median age in this community is 68. The city is small – only 0.6 square miles – and it shares boundaries with St. Petersburg, Gulfport, and St. Pete Beach. Its population is only about 5,000.
