Final day of Tampa Bay Comic Convention underway

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Sunday was the final day to attend the annual Tampa Bay Comic Convention taking place at the Tampa Convention Center.

Nearly 60,000 people participated in the weekend-long event where most people let their imaginations run wild.

“It’s just like going to a concert or something,” said Ella Christensen who dressed up as Jane Prentiss from The Magnus Archives. “It’s just like finding people with a similar interest as you and that interest just so happens to be nerd media.”

Kids 10 and under attended the event for free with an adult ticket purchase. However, the crowd was mainly adults who wanted to feel like kids again.

One of the most popular vendors was Blockbuster, who made their space a makeshift version of the last Blockbuster on the Planet, located in Bend, Oregon.

“I know not everyone can come to Oregon,” said Sandi Harding, General Manager of the last Blockbuster on the planet.

Harding just began traveling with Blockbuster Antiques to bring a sense of nostalgia to conventions across America, starting here in Florida.
