Hillsborough County deputy found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Hillsborough County deputy was found dead Thursday with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputy Timothy White, 45, was found dead by a family member in a vehicle at the Tampa Fire Rescue Headquarters along East Zack Street, officials said.

“I am devastated to learn that one of our own was suffering in silence,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “The entire Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office grieves with Deputy White’s loved ones. To anyone in crisis, please know you are not along; help is available.”

No other details were immediately available.
