Firefighters said it wasn’t the building that was on fire, it was the car. While the building had exterior damage, the fire did not spread inside.

“It appears the driver lost control on a curve and crashed into the side of the building,” officials said.

Thankfully, no one was inside the vehicle or building during the incident.

Officials said the driver initially fled the scene but was found by St. Petersburg police at a home located four blocks away from the scene.

The driver sustained injuries from the crash and was evaluated by paramedics. Their current condition is unknown.

No further details were released.
