Selby Botanical Gardens celebrates winners of 44th annual Juried Photo Exhibition

A photograph of a large, metallic green bee won best-in-show for Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ 44th annual Juried Photographic Exhibition, which is now on view in a virtual gallery at selby.org .

The photograph by Christopher Harrington, “Green Orchid Bee,” shows the timid pollinator from Central America that was first identified in Florida in 2003. Green orchid bees are about 1.3 centimeters long, similar in size to a honey bee.

The virtual exhibition includes nearly 300 photographs that were taken by photographers at Selby Gardens’ two campuses and were selected for display by an expert panel of jurors. In addition to best-in-show, the jury awarded prizes to top photographs in five categories. The exhibition will remain on view through Sept. 30.

“We are so grateful that almost 300 exceptionally talented artists chose to share their vision of the beauty of our two bayfront sanctuaries through their entries,” Selby Gardens president and CEO Jennifer Rominiecki, said “This virtual exhibition provides an awe-inspiring journey through the diverse nature and living art to be observed and experienced at Selby Gardens.”
