Driver ejected from vehicle, dies following St. Pete crash, police say

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A driver who was ejected from his vehicle has died following a collision on Wednesday morning.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said the crash happened at 1st Avenue South at 51st Street South at 10:02 a.m. between a silver Infinity sedan and a white Ford Ranger.

Officials said the collision caused both vehicles to leave the road.

The driver of the Ford was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the sedan was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. He is currently in stable condition.

During their investigation, police closed the eastbound lanes of 1st Street South, along with the northbound and southbound lanes of 51st Street Soth for more than five hours.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
