Man accused of stabbing family dog during argument in St. Pete

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man allegedly stabbed a family dog multiple times during an argument Thursday in St. Petersburg, according to an arrest affidavit.

Javon Williams, 45, allegedly stabbed the dog in the stomach during an argument in the 2500 block of 37th Street, police said.

The arrest affidavit stated Williams was not defending himself from the animal.

Williams was charged with aggravated assault against another family member in addition to animal cruelty. He was detained for mental health examination under the Baker Act.

The dog was taken to an animal hospital by a family member. The dog’s condition is unknown.
