Why’s Evans Taking Back Seat on Offense?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have started the season with a solid record of 2-1, but one of their superstar receivers has not been as involved in the offense so far as he has been in the past.

Mike Evans contributed in a big way in the Bucs’ Week 1 win against the Washington Commanders with two touchdowns, but his yards have not been there so far this season.

Week 1 was the most yards he has finished with through the first three weeks of the season, but it was only 61 yards. In Weeks 2 and 3, he had 42 and 17 yards, respectively.

He has taken a bit of a back seat to Chris Godwin, as Godwin has out-targeted him in all three games so far. Godwin being back in the slot contributes to that, and it has led him to be Mayfield’s favorite target so far.

With all of that being said, Evans will definitely come around and make his impact felt in the offense. He has been quiet through the first three weeks of the season, but it does not take much to get him going, and he will be looking to make some noise going forward.
