Pinellas disaster location to change beginning Monday

LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) — Pinellas County announced a new location for their Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) starting Monday, Oct. 7.

At 5 p.m. on Saturday, the current DRC at the Largo Public Library will close, and the new location will reopen Monday.

The county said the new recovery center will open at 9 a.m. Monday at the Florida Botanical Gardens, Magnolia Room, located at 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo. They will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Below is a list of various services and information residents can access at a DRC:

  • Information and Guidance: Disaster assistance programs and resources.
  • Application Assistance: Help with applying for federal disaster assistance programs, such as FEMA grants and low-interest loans from the Small Business Administration, including paperwork and explaining the application process.
  • Translation and Accessibility Services: Translation services for individuals with limited English proficiency and accommodations for people with disabilities to ensure equal access to assistance.
  • Status Updates : Residents can check the status of their application if they have already applied for assistance.
  • Access to Disaster-related Resources: Informational materials, pamphlets, and brochures that can help you better understand the recovery process and available resources. Staff can refer residents to other local, state, and federal agencies or organizations providing additional assistance, such as housing, legal services, and counseling.
  • Access to Computers and Phones: Computer access and phone services, and allow residents to complete online applications.
