2024 hasn’t been an entirely kind year for discount furniture and appliance stores in Florida. I’ve written about closures and layoffs by Florida Badcock stores. And now another discount retailer is closing Florida doors and offering clearances – American Freight.
About American Freight: If you’ve ever shopped for groceries in one of Florida’s warehouse clubs like Costo or Sam’s Club, American Freight is like in that its offerings are in a warehouse setting – but it offers furniture and appliances instead of groceries.
There are 32 American Freight stores in Florida. And many Floridians seem to enjoy them. A Tampa store earns 4.8 stars on Google reviews.
A reviewer named Jaki wrote:
“Customer service (is) always on point. Every time I come, William is the one who takes care of what I’m looking for. Always pleased with this place. As for the furniture, my expectations were blown away. I thought it was going to be something really cheap. But honestly, it’s good quality.”
The Bankruptcy And Store Closures: Franchise Group Inc., the parent company of American Freight, has filed for bankruptcy and announced the closure of all of the company’s 370 stores, including those in Florida.
