Murder-suicide investigation underway in New Tampa

TAMPA, Florida — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred in New Tampa on December 18, 2024. Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting on Royal Forest Drive, where they found two men dead.Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered 67-year-old Steven Glantz, of Tampa, Florida, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Surveillance footage captured a suspect approaching Glantz’s residence, firing multiple shots, and fleeing on foot.A search of the area, assisted by the HCSO’s K-9 Section, led to the discovery of 66-year-old Timothy Lobianco, of Tampa, Florida, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives have confirmed that Glantz and Lobianco were neighbors, but the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.”Our hearts go out to the victim’s family during this unimaginable loss,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This tragic event serves as a painful reminder of the devastating effects of senseless violence on our community. HCSO is committed to supporting the grieving families as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.”The investigation is ongoing, and any updates will be provided by the Public Affairs Office, stated the department.
