PALM HABOR, Fla. (WFLA) — Employees at a Pinellas County hotel said they were blindsided Monday, after being told the toy drive they set up weeks ago suddenly fell through.
Now, they’re scrambling to ensure 40 children still have something to open on Christmas morning, which is just two days away.

Extended Stay Palm Harbor Assistant Manager Ashley Elaine said she and her staff set up this toy drive with a company a few weeks ago. Each employee at the company was assigned a child to buy gifts for.
Elaine explained, they were supposed to have all of those gifts delivered by Tuesday.
But Monday, she got a call saying it fell through.
“That kind of left us not only devastated for the kids, but also trying to figure out a way to get them something for Christmas, because it’s obviously been a very troubling time for many, whether they lost their home during the hurricane or whether it’s financial hardships,” she explained.
