Suspected drunken driver flees troopers at 100 mph down St. Pete road: FHP

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A Lakeland man is behind bars after fleeing Florida Highway Patrol troopers at speeds over 100 mph the morning after Christmas.

At 3:40 a.m. on Dec. 26, 43-year-old Rasha Kadron Honors was caught speeding down Gnady Boulevard in his Dodge Ram pickup.

Officials attempted to pull Honors over, but he failed to stop. Instead, he fled from the troopers and continued heading northbound on US-19, traveling more than 100 mph.

Near Curlew Road, Pinellas County deputies deployed spike strips as troopers continued the pursuit. Eventually, near Tampa Road, troopers performed a successful PIT maneuver, stopping the pickup truck.

Honors was taken into custody and brought to the Pinellas County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, DUI, and not having a valid driver’s license.
