RIVERVIEW, Florida ( MyFloridaNews ) — An 18-year-old man was arrested following a shooting that left an off-duty ATF agent seriously injured, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred late on December 27, 2024, at The Alley at Southshore.Deputies responded to a call at approximately 11:07 p.m. reporting a shooting at 10221 Big Bend Road. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with upper-body trauma, who was then transported to a hospital for medical treatment.Detectives identified the suspect as Christopher Smith, 18, who allegedly shot the victim during an altercation. Smith faces charges including first-degree attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, tampering with physical evidence, and carrying a concealed firearm.Sheriff Chad Chronister commended the efforts of detectives and ATF agents in apprehending the suspect. “This suspect’s reckless actions have left the victim seriously injured, and he will now be held accountable for endangering the safety of others,” Chronister stated. He praised the victim for attempting to disperse a fight, noting that “his sense of duty extends beyond work.”The investigation remains active, and the Public Affairs Office will provide updates as they become available.
