New initiatives launching in St. Pete will help those in need of meals

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — One local organization is fighting hunger in the community to make sure no one goes to bed on an empty stomach, especially children.

To kick off the new year, Positive Impact is partnering with different agencies to start two new initiatives to help combat hunger. One of these initiatives will be a market where neighbors can come to shop, and the other is preventing children from going hungry after school.

“The children in our community are really suffering, so when they go to school, they get breakfast and lunch,” Heather Bay, the Volunteer and Program Director for Positive Impact said. “But when they come home, there’s not always food on the table. So, our goal is to really make sure no child goes to bed hungry.”

This new initiative will deliver meals to children for dinner, and to make it happen, the non-profit is partnering with Meals on Wheels for Kids and Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger.
