District leaders set to discuss Pinellas County fire chief resignation

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – The Pinellas Suncoast Fire and Rescue board is set to meet and discuss the resignation of Chief Jeffrey Davidson, on Thursday night.

Davidson’s resignation comes after allegations of misconduct filed against him in 2024.

The initial complaint was from the local firefighter’s union in August. Davidson denied the accusations.

The allegations included in the 17-page investigation are the following:

  • Direct dealing – not sustained
  • Mission and values – sustained
  • Violation of medical privacy laws – not sustained
  • Disparate treatment in discipline – N/A
  • Favoritism in promotional opportunities – not sustained
  • Loss of trust and confidence – sustained
  • Misappropriation/misallocation of funds – not sustained
  • Discrimination/coercion – not sustained
  • Fear of retaliation – N/A
  • Hostile work environment – not sustained

According to the district’s website, Davidson joined the district in November 2021. He resigned in December 2024.
