PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pinellas County man was arrested Saturday morning after he strangled a woman, fired a gun at her, and told her he was going to kill her, an affidavit said.
At 6:49 a.m. St. Petersburg police responded to a home to learn that 43-year-old Charles Joseph Rogers was abusing a woman.

According to the affidavit, Rogers struck and strangled the victim several times. He held her to the floor and repeatedly struck her on the left side of her face, causing swelling and bruising.
During the abuse, he shouted several times, “I’m gonna kill you,” the report said.
Rogers used both hands around her neck to strangle her, leaving visible bruising. After, police said he went to grab a firearm belonging to the victim from a bedroom in the home.
At that point, the woman ran out the front door and into the road, while Rogers followed behind, firing the revolver twice from the front yard, according to witnesses.
